The Clock Tower
also known as "Waveland Clock Tower"
also known as "Lincoln Park Clock Tower"

The clock tower located in Lincoln Park, next to the Marovitz Golf Course, just east of the intersection of Waveland Ave. and Lake Shore Drive, is the most popular starting point for our rides. If a ride listing doesn't specify a remote start, the ride starts at the clock tower.

Address: 3700 N. Recreation Drive
Bike Path:

From the North: Take the first left south of Irving Park Rd. Follow the path to the Clock Tower.
From the South: Take the first driveway on the right, past the totem pole, north of Belmont Harbor, follow the roadway to the Clock Tower.

CTA:

Bikes are permited on CTA trains at all times on weekend and holidays, on weekdays except 7am-9am and 4pm-6pm.

Take the Red Line to Addison, bike east on Addison to Lake Shore Drive. Cross the inner drive and take the sidewalk north (left) to the pedestrian underpass.

Car:

From the North:
Take Lake Shore Dr. south, exit at Irving Park Rd.
Turn left at the end of the ramp, continue on Recreation Dr.
Turn left after the tennis courts. Follow the roadway to the parking lot.

From the South:
Take Lake Shore Dr. north, exit at Recreation Dr.
Turn left after the totem pole.

Parking:

Parking is available in the lot south of the clock tower and along Recreation Dr.

"Roadies" Dunkin Donuts

This is the favorite start location for the "roadies" in the club as it affords a quick escape from the traffic and frequent stops of the city. Most training rides start here as well as many long distance, fast-paced tours.

Address: 5723 N. California Ave. (California Ave. @ Lincoln Ave.)
CTA: Bikes are permited on CTA trains at all times on weekend and holidays, on weekdays except 7am-9am and 4pm-6pm.

Take the Brown Line to Western, ride north on Western to Lincoln Ave., turn left and ride northwest to California Ave. Total distance is about 1.5 miles.

Queen's Landing
in Grant Park

Queen's Landing is directly across Lake Shore Drive from Buckingham Fountain. The landing is a large concrete terrace in between the bike path and the walkway along the harbor. There are no signs, so just look for the big concrete terrace across from Buckingham Fountain.

Bike Path:

From the North: Follow the bike path south past Jackson St. Queens Landing is just North of the Museum Campus.
From the South: Follow the bike path north from the Museum Campus.

CTA:

Bikes are permited on CTA trains at all times on weekend and holidays, on weekdays except 7am-9am and 4pm-6pm.

Take the Red or Blue Lines to Jackson, the Brown or Green lines to Wabash/Adams or the Orange line to Library/State. Bike east on Jackson to Lake Shore Drive. Cross Lake Shore Drive and take the Bike Path south (right) to Queen's Landing. Total distance is about 0.75 miles.

Car:

There is no easy access by car. Queen's Landing is along the Lakefront Bike Path, at Monroe Harbor. You can drive to one of the Grant Park garages, park you car and then bike (about a half mile) to Queen's Landing.

Parking:

Parking is available in the various garages around Grant Park, off of Monroe St. and off of Jackson St. There is limited on-street parking along Columbus Dr.

From the Monroe/Mellenium Park Garages: Bike east on Monroe St. to Lake Shore Drive. Cross Lake Shore Drive and take the Bike Path south (right) to Queen's Landing.

From the Grant Park South Garage: Bike east on Jackson to Lake Shore Drive. Cross Lake Shore Drive and take the Bike Path south (right) to Queen's Landing.

31st Street Beach
in Burnham Park

31st Street Beach is the starting point for many of our south-side rides. The beach is located at, where else?, East 31st and Lake Shore Drive. We meet on the north side of the beach house, near the bike racks.

Bike Path:

From the North: Follow the bike path south past McCormack Place
From the South: Follow the bike path north to 31st Street.

CTA:

Bikes are permited on CTA trains at all times on weekend and holidays, on weekdays except 7am-9am and 4pm-6pm.

Take the Red or Green Lines to 35th Street, bike east on 35th St. to Martin Luther King Drive. Turn left and ride north on MLK Dr. to 31st St. Turn right and ride east on 31st St. to the beach. Total distance is about 1.5 miles.

Car:

From the North or South take Lake Shore Drive to 31st Street. Head east on 31st Street (toward the lake) turn right into the parking lot.

Parking:

Parking is available in a small lot south of 31st Street.
