In order to avoid the lakefront congestion, we will meet at the skateboard park north of Roosevelt and east of Michigan Avenue in the southwest corner of Grant Park.
Last year's annual ride was postponed, and we were rained out in May of this year. But we are back in business July 1st. This will be the 9th such ride in 10 years and later this summer we'll have the 10th such ride in 10 years to get back on track.The architecture on the near south east side has a remarkable history. We'll visit some new areas, including Chinatown, as well as some previous favorites while staying away from heavy traffic. We will check out some brand new dorms and university buildings in Hyde Park.
We'll see old mansions in Kenwood, Hyde Park, and Bronzeville, and bike through Chicago Landmark Districts: Prairie Avenue Historic District, Oakland, North Kenwood, Kenwood, Giles-Calumet-Prairie Historic District, IIT, and Chinatown.No lunch is planned. Pace is 12 to 14 mph easy going.
